Archetype launches The Clubhouse, latest initiative for the progressive marketing comms agency

SYDNEY, Australia: February 8, 2022 – Archetype, Sydney, the Australian branch of global marketing comms agency, Archetype, has launched The Clubhouse, the latest in a series of progressive, people-first initiatives designed to address the shift in workplace culture that has accelerated since the start of the pandemic.

Archetype has reimagined its office space after two years of remote and hybrid working, ensuring that workspaces are fit to suit new working patterns and needs. Where ‘old style’ office space was often configured around workstations and desking, The Clubhouse concept is one that encourages Collaboration, Creativity and Connection – three crucial aspects of a great and effective agency working environment. The hybrid workforce needs office spaces that support social interaction, as well as collaboration, which is central to maintaining Archetype’s award-winning culture.

The refocus was developed following feedback from the Sydney team and an analysis of global trends that looked into ways to maintain culture, without forgetting the importance of giving individuals the freedom and flexibility to work the way they want.

The role of the office has changed and the objective of The Clubhouse is to make it attractive for employees to come together for things that can’t be achieved on Zoom. The Clubhouse will become a destination for in-person connection, collaboration and creativity, bringing people together over special lunches, activities and wellness sessions that unite and inspire.

“We found that while our teams want to have flexibility to work from anywhere, the one thing we were missing was each other. Work from home and collaborating remotely is wonderful, but nothing can replace seeing each other face-to-face. Culture is everything to agencies, so we’re turning the office into a place for high-touch work. Agency environments are built on teamwork, fun and creativity, so we’re bringing that back to support flexible working to strike a balance,” says Karen Coleman, Managing Director, Archetype Australia.

The agency won’t insist on teams coming into the office; that decision will remain up to the individual and work patterns will remain hybrid. However, employees will have a creative and social space available to them five days a week that is re-energised and reconfigured for collaboration, creativity and connection. Creative breakout spaces, meditation rooms and open air rooftop are currently being re-configured to break down conventional walls to make way for the new approach.

The launch of The Clubhouse comes on the back of the success of the agency’s flexible-working and employee-support program, The Archetype Way, which launched across APAC during the pandemic. The program comprises of three core initiatives designed to support team members during the shift to more working from home: Make Work Work for You – which allows employees to define how they like to work, when they work and where they work, supported by a tech and furniture allowance; Digital Detox – which sets parameters around out-of-hours communications, reducing Friday meetings, and ‘camera-optional’ Zoom calls; and Archetype Lifeworks – an employee assistance program available to all.

Archetype Sydney is also continuing to enable its employees to work from locations across Australia, something it has done for many years, as well as providing team members with the opportunity to work across multiple time zones, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and London.

Archetype Sydney is well known for its progressive approach to people, having launched initiatives such as Equal Parental Leave in 2019. Archetype’s initiatives have been met with overwhelmingly positive employee feedback and a high employee satisfaction rate. This success is in part due to “ensuring our team is part of the solution,” says Coleman.

Archetype is regularly recognised as a great place to work, and was named Best Large Consultancy to Work For in APAC in 2020 and 2021 by PRovoke Media.
