THE ROLE
APCO has an immediate opening for a Consultant to join our growing office in Singapore. With a minimum of 4 years’ experience in communications, you will work closely with colleagues at all levels on projects that cover the full range of public affairs, with the aim to enhance an organisation’s reputation, influence decision-making, and ensure effective communication with various audiences. You will be responsible for the day-to-day support of key aspects of client assignments including preparing client-ready materials and working with junior team members to support their development. There is a strong media relations element to this role and you will be expected to support and drive media outreach and engagement for a range of clients in the region. Instinctively curious, you’ll demonstrate an interest in the macro issues impacting our clients’ business.
While immediate business priorities will include communications and public affairs work in the healthcare space, you will have the opportunity to work across APCO’s diverse client portfolio and to enhance your existing skills in corporate communication, crisis and issues management, stakeholder engagement, and digital/social media.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development of compelling communications and content.
- Produce quality written materials including customised messaging, issue briefs, briefings, press materials, and social media content copywriting, and thought leadership initiatives, positioning clients as industry experts and leaders in their field
- Support client meetings and proposals, including brainstorming sessions, presentations and workshops
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of integrated communication campaigns
- Proactively cultivate and own media relationships to support client needs across sectors
- Monitor media trends and external developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
- Support the development and execution of communication plans tailored to client needs and objectives.
- Actively participate in business development activities including writing proposals and developing pitch decks.
- Mentor interns and other junior staff
QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS
- University degree preferably in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in PR, strategic communications or media relations experience – consultancy experience would be highly desirable
- Project management experience and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and client initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Experience developing and supporting strategic communications (corporate or financial communications, issues management, internal communications, crisis communications, etc.) across various industries and subject areas. Prior experience in the healthcare sector would be preferred
- Strong communication skills both written and oral
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to manage independent client relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, media databases and reporting tools, and managing social media content
