Southeast Asia’s youths are now living in an era of uncertainty. The past few decades have seen the region achieve tremendous growth, accelerating the living standards of many across only a few generations – setting a strong precedent for how the region’s youth today now demand and expect more from their governments, the businesses they patronise and the media platforms they engage with. While 2020 was a watershed year for the youths’ resilience, 2021 has been one of adaptation; they must now learn to not only live, but also thrive in today’s normal and the next.
This webinar – jointly organised by the PRCA and Redhill – will discuss several key findings of the 2021 ASEAN Youth Survey by Redhill. The study, titled ‘Overcoming Anxieties for a Brighter Tomorrow’, analyses the roles of Southeast Asia’s youths as key drivers of economic, cultural and socio-political change. It provides a snapshot view of their aspirations and concerns, through the eyes of nearly 3,000 people aged 18-35 across seven ASEAN nations.
Taking place at 2pm SGT on 29 April 2022, the event will feature a panel of experts within the media and communication sectors. Together, they will discuss the following pertinent themes evolving within the online activity pace:
- The role of Southeast Asia’s youths in driving the online evolution of media, and how businesses and governments can evolve communication methods accordingly
- How communications professionals can help conventional media adapt to digitally connected youths
- Thoughts from communications professionals on striking a fine balance between freedom of expression and curbing malicious online activity
Speakers include:
- Sarah Tucker, Head of APAC Marketing, LinkedIn
- Sharanjit Leyl, President of the Foreign Correspondents Association in Singapore, and a former senior broadcast journalist at the BBC
