Practitioners are empowered to move beyond superficial communications, propelling a substantial shift towards impactful value creation.

The AMEC APAC Regional Summit 2023, a conference focusing on the measurement of corporate and organizational communication activities, was hosted by the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) in collaboration with PT Astra International Tbk. at Menara Astra, Jakarta.

Under the theme “From Vanity to Value: Demonstrating the Impact of Communication”, the event featured speakers from domestic and international corporations and organizations. They shared knowledge and experience on the importance of meticulously planning, measuring, and evaluating communication initiatives to achieve optimal impact—both in terms of tangible outputs and broader organizational objectives.

AMEC Global CEO and Managing Director Johna Burke as the speaker said, ”The evolving landscape of technology poses new challenges for organizations, highlighting the importance of shifting from superficial communications to value-driven strategies. It is encouraging to see the summit’s speakers and participants enthusiastically share knowledge and experience. It indicates the awareness of industry players in Indonesia about the importance of shifting from vanity metrics to impact-based results.”

Astra Head of Corporate Communications Boy Kelana Soebroto, who is also the Indonesian Public Relations Association (PERHUMAS) Chairman, as another speaker emphasized, ”Astra embraced the AMEC’s Integrated Evaluation Framework since 2021. In addition, the framework aligned our efforts toward a common direction and overarching goal.”

This first regional-level communication measurement conference in Indonesia also served as a networking platform for the participants and speakers. In addition to Johna Burka and Boy Kelana, the event showcases a range of communication experts, including Chief Strategy Officer dan Managing Partner Dataxet Robert Kabus, Head of Insights and Strategy Medianet Insights Jacquie Hanna, Principal Communications Specialist Asian Development Bank Andrew Perrin, Partner and Co-founder Maverick Indonesia Ong Hock Chuan, Co-chair AMEC Asia Pacific Felicia Nugroho, and several other esteemed speakers.
