Empowering the Next Generation: PRCA APAC Sustainability Group x Nanyang Polytechnic
We’re thrilled to share this amazing initiative from PRCA APAC’s Sustainability Group empowering the next generation of communications professionals!
Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) approached PRCA APAC earlier this year to collaborate on a project with their sustainability communications class. Students were asked to develop a campaign for Zero Waste SG (note: not actually involved) to promote sustainability and recycling in their peers’ everyday lives. They had to conceive a plan showcasing clear qualitative and quantitative objectives, insights gathering, activations, media outreach and social media.
“It’s important for us to educate our learners that sustainability isn’t just a goal – it’s a commitment. Providing them with real opportunities to work alongside industry partners makes their learning journey both meaningful and impactful.” – Ryan Chia, NYP
Members of the Sustainability Group were tasked with providing high-level strategic counsel to the students, helping them refine their plans through real-world insights and execution.
The objective was to communicate Zero Waste SG’s sustainability journey and initiatives to youth audiences – building awareness, encouraging participation, and driving meaningful engagement.
Three finalist groups were asked to present to a judging panel of from the Sustainability Group: professionals Meilin Wong (Partner & CEO, Milk & Honey), Lin Kuek (Managing Director, Vero) and Aniket Gupta (Associate Manager, PRecious Communications).
The plans were highly creative, involving collectibles, student ambassador programs and even mobile apps. The judges had a tough job but chose the winning group based not only on their originality but also on their ability to follow the brief and stay grounded in a real-world example.
“Seeing these learners approach sustainability communications with creativity, insight and rigour gives us hope. Our future depends on fresh voices who care deeply, ask questions bravely, and commit to turning ideas into action.” – Meilin Wong
Thank you to our Sustainability Group, to Nanyang Polytechnic and of course to all the students who took part… our industry is clearly in good hands!
