SINGAPORE, 17 June 2021 – This summer, eco-friendly portable aircon brand, Close Comfort, is excited to introduce their newest family member, Ooh. A young, lovable animated character, Ooh draws cues from the Cool Focus air conditioning unit. Appointed as the face of Close Comfort’s latest campaign, Ooh hopes to generate excitement and relatability among young audiences.

As a personal air conditioning startup, Close Comfort has been founded in Australia by veteran engineer and researcher, Professor James Trevelyan. On a mission to provide environmentally friendly cooling solutions to temper a warming world, the company has its presence in Australia, Singapore, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

With Ooh, Close Comfort adds to their beloved mascot family, a cartoon character, to appeal to children and provide an easily recognisable character to customers. Soon, Ooh will become a familiar face all around Singapore as he appears in Close Comfort’s advertisements.

Communicating his excitement and anticipation for the character launch, Professor James Trevelyan said “I’m thrilled to finally be able to introduce Ooh to our audiences. Ooh is not just the embodiment of our unit but also for all we stand for – sustainable cooling. We hope to reach out to many more families and help them keep cool and comfortable in an affordable yet sustainable way.”

Close Comfort has been lauded for their sustainable efforts. The Channel News Asia’s Climate Conversation podcast, for instance, featured founder and CEO, Professor Trevelyan. He highlighted the environmental damage caused by traditional air-conditioning and Close Comfort’s revolutionary green cooling technology. To that effect, Close Comfort’s star product, the Cool Focus, has found a spot on TheSmartLocal’s list of ‘Best Portable Aircons’ in Singapore in 2020 and 2021.

Who’s Ooh?
Ooh’s fascination with the Close Comfort units began at a young age. In fact, his pancake-flat face is a result of pressing his nose against store windows in the hope of getting a look at Close Comfort’s nifty units. Over time, he even started looking more and more like the unit itself.

About Close Comfort:
Close Comfort is an Australian and Singapore-based start-up on a mission to provide sustainable yet affordable and efficient cooling solutions to everyone who needs it. Creating its first prototype in 2007, Close Comfort invested years into research and further refining its product before launching in 2016, when the first Close Comfort units went on sale to customers. A Close Comfort unit requires 80% less energy to operate, compared to standard
air conditioners while reducing electrical costs and CO2 emissions. Now, operating in markets across the world – Singapore, Australia, Pakistan and Indonesia, Close Comfort continues to make a difference in the lives of those who once considered cooling to be a luxury.
