ASIA PACIFIC, 21 April 2022 – The PRCA SEA NextGen Group has today unveiled its name change to PRCA APAC NextGen Group, as it seeks to expand its impact on young PR practitioners across the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The news coincides with Alicia Thong, Director of AKA Asia, stepping down as NextGen Chair after a successful 18 months in the role. The NextGen group will now be led by Marsha Imaniara, General Manager at Maverick Indonesia, and Olivia Burton, Senior Account Manager at Redhill.

The PRCA APAC NextGen Group aims to equip young and mid-level practitioners in the region with the tools they need to progress their career, whether that is by organising events, networking sessions, research-driven insights, or tailored support and advice for individuals.

Marsha Imaniara, PRCA APAC NextGen Group co-chair, said:

“We are living in a world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. From gender and racial identities to vaccine distrust, to climate crisis… Communication plays a critical role to bridge differences and facilitate change. It is thus more important than ever to prepare the next generation of communicators, particularly in a region as dynamic as APAC. I’m honoured to take over the baton from Alicia in ensuring that PRCA NextGen continues to provide learning materials and guidance for these future leaders of communications.”

Olivia Burton, PRCA APAC NextGen Group co-chair, said:

“It’s been a pleasure working with the PRCA NextGen team over the past 18 months, and I am very much looking forward to leading the team – alongside Marsha – as we continue to create useful resources to help young PR practitioners.”
