James Tyrrell is APCO Worldwide’s Global Chair of the Health practice and is based in Singapore. Mr. Tyrrell specializes in combining corporate communications and policy consulting to support market access, government relations and product launches for companies and organizations.
Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Tyrrell was deputy managing director at Insight Consulting Group (ICG) which he co-founded in early 2006. With over two decades of experience in the industry, Mr. Tyrrell has spearheaded a host of award-winning programs and campaigns across a variety of sectors for some of the world’s largest companies.
Mr. Tyrrell’s expert knowledge of health technology appraisal has enabled him to work extensively on disease awareness and guideline development throughout his career. He is an expert in cardiovascular and immuno-oncology product launches and policy development. He has provided corporate and brand consulting for most global pharmaceutical companies, including Amgen, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GSK, Leo, Novartis, Pfizer and Sanofi, as well as supporting patient advocacy and professional organizations with communications advice.
Mr. Tyrrell regularly contributes to industry media and has served as vice-chairman of the Chartered Institute for Public Relations Public Affairs Group. He has been recognized for his achievements in the communications industry by being named as Consultant of the Year at the lobbying industry’s Public Affairs News Awards.
Mr. Tyrrell is a graduate of the University of Southampton and holds a bachelor’s degree in politics.
