Summary

Mindfulness is paying attention on intention, in the present moment, and in an open, kind, and nonjudgmental way. A growing body of research has found a variety of benefits of regular and sustained mindfulness practice associated with increased overall wellbeing including enhanced resilience, self-awareness, emotional regulation, concentration, decision-making, sleep quality, empathy and life satisfaction, and reduced stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms. Since the foray of the first secular mindfulness program in the healthcare setting in the 1970s, mindfulness training has been increasingly practiced by other populations such as workplaces and schools.

During this challenging global pandemic filled with unknowns of the future, human beings are prone to discomfort and distress as the human brain is naturally wired for survival. In this short workshop, learn how the practice of mindfulness may help one to become more aware of inner experiences, feel more connected with others, to relate with difficult experiences in a healthier and sustainable manner, and choosing daily activities that reflect better self-care.
